As we begin to feel a little nostalgic here at Global we challenged the team to have a little fun and come up with traditional scenes from famous movie that could be given a “global makeover”
Todays is Casablanca
Composite Doors in the North – the North of Africa that is
Global Door at the movies No 1 in a series of six
– Casablanca a classic starring a Global door and others
Picture the scene – Ricks Bar –Casablanca – the love of Rick Blain’s life Ilsa Lund has just left having cajoled Sam the piano player into playing a haunting rendition of the Classic “As time goes by”, a song that awakened deep memories in Rick, Ilsa and Sam’s past.
Enter Rick to speak the immortal line
“Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine”
Shortly afterwards he turns to Sam saying –
“You played it for her, you can play it for me”
Pan camera left to the Bar entry and the majestic new Global Victorian pattern door Rick has had recently had installed, a door which Sam cannot take his eyes off, he is enthralled, so much so that he forgets the original words and launches in his admiration of Global door into the following version. (with apologies to Herman Hupfield the original composer back in 1931) soon to be used in our forthcoming TV commercial
“You must remember this
A Global door exists
To keep you warm and dry
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
Be it red or green or blue
Solidly constructed through and through
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Victorian & Georgian – never out of date
Colours full of passion- guarantees first rate
Delivered by van – with installation never late
That no one can deny
At Global door we know the story
Check our doors in all their glory
Decide which you wish to buy
For we will always welcome customers
As time goes by
Rick hangs his head in despair
Scene changes to outside of the Bar where Ilsa is standing in the shadows wiping a tear from her eye “Sam that’s beautiful” she says to no-one in particular, “that has to be the best looking door on any bar in Casablanca.” she continues.
Quietly she turns and starts to walk away – camera zooms out as Ilsa can just be heard muttering, “thank goodness all Global doors are of the highest calibre manufactured to rigorous quality controlled standards and comprise-
- a reinforced hardwood frame
- a solid thermally insulated polyurethane foam core slab
- a 2mm thick durable GRP through coloured skin to prevent warp, twist bow etc
- a thickness of 44mm which adds to the strength and creates a strong secure door.
and most importantly wonderful sound deadening qualities, Sam used to be such a wonderful singer but time has certainly not been kind to his voice.”
The camera pulls away and the shot fades into darkness casting the last rays of light on the majestic Global Victorian door, as it makes its final appearance in the film.
