Cordless Blinds
The ScreenLine® SL20SV system is a manually operated sliding Venetian blind which features a single, cleverly designed magnetic slider to control the whole operation. Positioned on a narrow slide guide on the edge of the sealed unit, the cordless magnetic slider allows the blind to be raised, lowered and tilted effortlessly.
PLEASE NOTE - SLIDE MECHANISM WILL ALWAYS BE ON RIGHT HAND SIDE (VIEWED FROM THE INSIDE).
Available in a range of 7 colours. Please note that our colour 'Anthracite' is a close match but will not exactly match RAL 7016.

Trickle Vents
Trickle vents are optional and provide additional airflow into the home. Please check with your architect or project manager if trickle vents are required before placing your order. Each trickle vent is equivalent airflow area of 2214mm2.
We use a stylish flush fitting trickle vent that is fitted discreetly into the sash. This avoids having an ugly vent protruding from the head of the frame, and also eliminates the need for a head add-on.

Sills & Thresholds
We have a range of Sill & Thresholds to suit all requirements, we believe this is one of those jobs that can best be done by an expert. Our Expert team of surveyors will advise you on the best Sill & Threshold option for you and your home during your home survey.
Cill Information
A sill sits underneath your door frame, and is there primarily to drain water away and stop it getting into the house! Please note the size referred to is the complete projection from the back of the bi-fold frame, not the complete projection from the front of the frame.

Most doors are recommended to have a sill to help with drainage, even if a low walkthrough effect is the goal. For example, external decking or paving can be ran up to the edge of the sill.

Threshold Information
Deciding which threshold and sill combination you have on your bi-folding door is perhaps the most important decision. If the wrong threshold is selected, you could have issues with floor levels and the door opening clearance. There are various thresholds to choose from, and we recommend consulting the help icon on the online designer for a detailed explanation of each. Alternatively, you can view our threshold guides below.
We find that many customers are looking to achieve a 'flush' threshold, so that the opening from the internal to external is seamless with the doors open. It should be noted that a completely flush threshold is rarely achievable, although you can get close enough in most cases.
It is also important to consider that the location of the door is relevant, and if your door is prone to receive extreme weather (high winds, heavy rainfall etc, is in an exposed location or not on the ground floor, then a higher threshold may be more suitable to provide a better weather rating.

Wind Loading Information
It is important to consider the amount of wind loading the patio is likely to be subjected so that the mullions are reinforced accordingly. Please select the option that best describes your installation and we will calculate the required reinforcing based on the sizes you have entered. This calculation is offered as a guide only based on the information inputted, and GFD Trading accept no responsibility for the structural requirements of individual applications.
For reference, please see below the cross sections showing the mullion reinforcing used for each wind load requirement. These are full length reinforcing bars that are screwed into the interlocks (sections where the doors meet).
None/Light - No reinforcing
Heavy - internal reinforcing bar
Severe - internal & external reinforcing bar
The standard interlock section has an 83mm sightline.

The slim interlock is only 34mm and has a very slim sightline, giving you more panoramic views and maximum visible glass area.

Outer Frame Information
The standard upstand has a 43mm clearance from the edge of the jamb to the sash. The internal upstand as a lip on the jamb which the sash slides into, giving a clear 52mm clearance on the jamb. The internal upstand is available as an upgrade if you need a wider clearance on the jamb, or for example have a plaster rebate that needs to avoid the sash.
